Morocco in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980
Morocco debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 in The Hague, Netherlands.
The Moroccan broadcaster Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision (SNRT) selected Samira Bensaïd to sing the first Moroccan entry, "Bitaqat Khub" (Love Card), sung in the Arabic language, the first time the language was sung at the contest.
At Eurovision
Bensaïd's did not go well with the juries from around Europe, gaining only 7 points, all from Italy, coming second last only to Finland.
Morocco has not returned to Eurovision since the entry.
